International Women’s Day photography in Northwich

Hartford Golf Club played host to International Women’s Day on 8th March 2020. This year it falls on a Sunday so many of the events to mark the occasion were held in the week before and I was invited to photograph one of the largest events in Cheshire. It was organised by Sue France, Tricia Peters and Kirsty James; three women who have helped so many small businesses and entrepreneurs in Cheshire and across the Northwest over the last decade or so.

Sue, Tricia and Kristy all organise and run networking events for the business community, attracting businesses of all sizes from across the region. The brilliant thing about each of them is that they all do it so differently. Their events are hugely popular and have loyal followings. Whichever event you go to you’re bound to bump into a familiar face or several and the events are renowned for their friendly, welcoming atmosphere.

One common theme to many women’s networking events is a bit of shopping and IWD 2020 had a great selection of stalls. Everything from clothing, jewellery and fashion accessories to health and beauty products and even gin, courtesy of local producers Three Pugs Gin. Josie looked after our stall showing off our family and pet portrait photography.

For International Women’s Day 2020, The trio decided to put on a joint event at Hartford Golf Club, Near Northwich in the heart of Cheshire, which had recently invested in a new event and conference space which I have to say is of a fantastic standard and is perfect for weddings and family celebrations as well as business functions. The menu was well chosen and beautifully prepared by the chefs at Hartford Golf Club.

The International Women’s Day event was sponsored by Cheshire accountants Howard Worth and Natwest. Sue, Tricia and Kirsty each chose an inspirational speaker to share their stories. Catherine Sandland, locally known as the Presenting Queen; Maura Jackson CEO of Backup Northwest, a charity based in Bolton supporting homeless people aged 16-25; and Sally Penni, barrister and author, and Founder of Women in the Law UK. All three gave truly inspiring speeches to a very warm reception from the audience.

The organisers are planning to host this event again in 2021 and it’s definitely one to put on your calendar. Here are links to their upcoming events in the meantime:
